As an Editor at the RBA, you will help achieve the Bank’s communication goals by providing editorial services for external communication materials.

This is a part time position working 2 days per week that is for 6 months.

A natural collaborator and adept communicator, you will work closely with our Senior Editor, communications partners and teams throughout the Bank to ensure our written content is accurate, accessible and effective. You will help ensure complex ideas are translated into plain English.

You will provide high quality and efficient editorial, copyediting and proofreading services for publications, speeches and other written materials. You will also proofread and provide general quality assurance for other Bank communications, including website copy, educational content and promotional materials, and provide administrative support across the publishing process. Experience in a similar role in academic, financial services, economics or government publishing is highly desirable.

Your background- Publishing/editing experience is essential.- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, particularly across technical and/or non-fiction material.- Excellent working knowledge of plain English standards.- Strong organisational and time-management skills, and ability to prioritise and meet strict deadlines.- Experience developing written communications for a variety of stakeholders, using traditional and new platforms, both for print and online.- Previous experience in financial, government or academic publishing is highly desirable.- Interest in/knowledge of economics, financial services and/or central banking.- A tertiary degree in publishing/editing, communications or a related field.

Your team

You will be working in the Communications Division of the Secretary’s Department. The division provides advice on and execution of effective external and Bank-wide internal communication programs. We also manage media relationships and public enquiries, design, edit and publish the Bank’s publications and other materials, manage public appearances and internal events, manage the Bank’s social media channels and develop and maintain the RBA’s websites and intranet. Reporting to the Manager, External Communications, you will work closely with our Senior Editor, communications advisors, web developers and digital designers to support the production of our publications and speeches.
