**Position Information**:
**Lake Macquarie High School is a comprehensive coeducational secondary school (2024 - 525 students with 25% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Background). The school has a dynamic 7 - 12 Secondary setting that links local Aboriginal culture to the school. We have developed strong links across our Community of Schools partnering with our Primary Schools across several projects and events, including comprehensive transitions and Arts programs.**
**Our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) ethos is SOAR - Safety, Ownership, Achievement and Respect and is embedded in all areas of teaching and school involvement. We foster each student’s sense of belonging and advocacy encouraging their connection to the school and our future directions.**
**The school has a strong wellbeing focus currently in place, with numerous processes established to monitor and support student attendance, sense of belonging and engagement. This includes, but is not limited to, involvement within the Learning and Support processes to support case management of students with complex needs to engage in education. The successful applicant will lead their faculty’s involvement in whole school processes to support student learning and academic achievement.**
**The faulty has established Stage 5 Aboriginal Studies and History extension in the HSC in 2023. This role will require high levels of communication, data literacy, curriculum expertise and team leadership to support an experienced staff and growing school community. This position will include a teaching allocation based on the needs of the HSIE faculty.**
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
**1.** **Demonstrated capacity to build a culture of academic rigour and collaboration in the development and delivery of high-quality curriculum and assessment.**
**2.** **Demonstrated capacity to lead collaborative and strategic planning processes which respond to priorities for change management and whole school improvement as a member of the executive team.**
**3.** **Experience in leading the use of evidence and whole school data to guide improvement in HSC outcomes and implementation of curriculum.**
**4.** **Evidence of ability to work with a broad school community to create culturally responsive and significant learning experiences.**
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
