Academic Tutor

OpenWisdom is a specialised year 7 to 12 tuition centre that offers 1v1 and small group lessons. Our mission is to deliver consistent, incremental success for our students using personalised learning models delivered by experienced, high-performing tutors.

We are looking for tutors to join our growing team in Hurstville or Burwood branch. We provide you with all the resources and notes you need. No experience teaching is needed - you will undergo training with our head tutors and be supported by your own close-knit team to ensure you are comfortable and confident in your role.

Who are you?
- You are a university student who has recently completed HSC in NSW (required)
- You are punctual, flexible and organised - able to prioritize and manage a schedule
- You have a confident demeanour who can understand students’ specific needs and communicate
- You can empathize with students, communicate effectively with them and understand their challenges
- You are able to break down complex ideas and explain each part in a digestible fashion
- You are patient and show long-term resilience to ensure student’s success
- If you have more than 1 year of tutoring experience this will be highly regarded

Your responsibilities will include:

- Teaching weekly personalised 1v1 or 1v2 lessons
- Planning lessons catering to individual students’ strengths and weaknesses
- Planning student progression and improvement trajectory
- Routinely pulse-checking students for engagement and alignment with progression plans
- Working with other like-minded tutors towards team goals through marketing initiatives and academic seminars
- Routinely reporting to your team leader and OpenWisdom managers

2) Initial screening through Zoom call

3) Face-to-face interview and mock lesson

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent, Casual

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 5 per week

Supplemental pay types:

- Performance bonus

**Experience**:

- Teaching: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Working with Children Check (preferred)
- Driver Licence (preferred)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (preferred)
