**Your role**

The FACSIAR directorate is the reporting, analytical and evidence arm of the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).

Working with the EBIP metadata team you will use your metadata development and analysis skills to contribute to improving external and internal access to information about the valuable data assets that FACSIAR manages. This, in turn, will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of analysis, research and evaluation projects that aim at enhancing service and client outcomes.

**What you’ll do**

This role combines collaborative skills, technical insights, and strong communication skills to support the ability to deliver key insights and information about the organisation’s metadata.

You will be working with clients to assist them in the management of information assets, describing what data is, knowing where data is, where it has come from, who has approved it, what it records and how it can be used.

The Metadata Analyst position is responsible for investigating and assisting with implementation of support services relating to description, storage and sharing of metadata and datasets.

The purpose of a metadata analyst role is to facilitate better management of an organisation’s information assets to ensure there is a structured way of organising the data holdings. The aim is to standardise metadata across an organisation so information can be easily found, understood, reused and shared.

You will be working on a wide variety of interesting and challenging assignments to assist program areas with describing their data. You will enjoy a working environment in which effort, creativity and a positive attitude are highly valued.

**What we’re looking for**
- Experience working with the Aristotle Metadata Registry
- Familiarity with Metadata Registry standard 11179, interchange of client information standard 4590 and geospatial metadata standard 19115
- Familiarity with the Collibra system
- Experience in one of the following:

- Library Information Sciences
- Informatics
- Computer Information sciences
- Oral and written communication skills, with the ability to address both technical and non-technical audiences at a variety of organisational levels;
- Work experience or an interest in data/information lifecycle management and governance, metadata management, information classification, data quality, data usage and data analysis;
- Ability to work cross-functionally with IT teams and key stakeholders, utilising analytical skills in understanding data flows, dissecting problems, and delivering clear recommendations and guidance;
- Demonstrated liaison, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to build relationships across a range of professional and disciplinary areas; and
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with initiative, set priorities and balance the demands of a complex working environment.
