The Infrastructure Services Unit is responsible for the delivery of the Shire’s maintenance services including roads, buildings and open space, worth approximately $55 million per year. We also deliver renewal programs, manage the Shire’s assets and protect its biodiversity. This is an exciting time for the Unit, as we transition to a new service delivery model and begin the tender for all of our maintenance service contracts.

**About the role**
The Infrastructure Services Unit is seeking someone with strong knowledge and relevant experience in civil contract management and civil construction methodologies and standards, preferably gained in a local government environment, to inspect and report on work performed by the Shires Roads, Cleansing & Drainage contractor to ensure they provide an excellent standard of service delivery to the community.
Core responsibilities include:
- Develop and undertake a program of scheduled and ad hoc inspections of works based on contract maintenance activities, schedules and identified areas of concern.
- Ensure contractors are complying with contractual requirements including KPIs, relevant standards and statutory requirements.
- Inspections for compliance with contractor’s systems of management of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Risk.
- Inspection and reporting on new assets prior to hand over from capital works or private developments.
- Raising contractual and/or legislative breeches with relevant Managers and Coordinators’ for enforcement of contract terms.
**Skills, experience, and other requirements**
- Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management or Civil Construction or other relevant trade at/above Certificate III level or equivalent or substantial progress towards qualification
- Experience in field auditing or surveillance.
- Demonstrated high level communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated computer literacy utilising the Microsoft suite of products
