A voluntary Retail Assistant supports the manager in charge, in the day-to-day operations of a Salvos Stores

Salvos Stores is the retail arm of The Salvation Army and operates over 340 retail stores in Australia. Salvos Stores operates as a fully functioning retail business, recycling pre-loved goods and relying heavily on the generosity of the public.

Salvos Stores maintains a professional retail network and dedicated store staff and volunteers, professional Support and State Offices, a great team of retail managers, and a highly effective operations team.

- Follow all Salvos Stores Policy & Procedure
- Ability to sort through donations, discarding anything that may not be fit for sale
- Utilise the most recent unacceptable goods list
- Effectively disposing of items “unsaleable” and ensuring quality products kept for distribution
- Carry out operations of warehouse
- Assist with daily warehouse tasks requested by Warehouse
- Coordinator and Logistics Manager
- Assist in sorting; bric-a-brac, electrical and books
- Housekeeping
- All tasks completed within requested timeframe.
- Assist with monthly clean out of unsaleable items/rubbish at warehouse (if applicable)
- Follow Workplace Health & Safety Policy and Procedures
- All Hazards reported immediately to line manager
- Accidents/incidents reported immediately to line manager
- Attend tool box meetings rostered/required
- Hazards documented appropriately Follow security policy and procedures
- All goods accounted for at all times
- Report any security breaches to line manager
- Stock transfer advice forms accurately completed and forwarded to base store daily
- No doors or windows are left open when base warehouse is unattended
