**Position Information**:
Expressions of interest are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity as Head Teacher Teaching & Learning (Instructional Leadership). The position will be located at Finigan School of Distance Education, 77 Agnes Avenue, Queanbeyan NSW 2620.

Finigan School of Distance Education (Finigan SDE) is a?purpose built?K-12 distance education school located in Queanbeyan NSW. The school has 95 full-time equivalent teaching staff and 800 enrolments. Finigan SDE has been specifically designed to meet the needs of distance education students and teachers. The school’s facilities include 20 web lesson studios and 2 video production studios.

The school has 7 learning hubs located across south eastern NSW where students?are able to?access face-to-face teacher support.?Residential schools?operate?at regular intervals throughout the year.?Teachers conduct field visits to provide face-to-face support for students.??

Finigan SDE is an equity provision for many students. We provide quality individualised learning programs for students who meet the criteria of one or more of the distance education enrolment categories. These include geographical isolation, travelling within Australia or overseas, medical conditions that prevent attendance at a face-to-face school, vocationally talented students and students with additional learning and support needs, including those with disability and students in extraordinary circumstances. Finigan SDE also provides single course curriculum access for students attending face-to-face schools.?

Position Information

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated high level instructional leadership skills, to lead the development of innovative, collaborative practice for quality teaching and learning across the school.
- Highly developed research and evaluation skills to identify and refine best practice in online teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated high level technology skills to effectively integrate technology to support quality teaching and learning.
- Highly developed communication skills with the capacity to identify professional learning needs and support teachers to know their impact on each student’s learning.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
