- Anglo American Steelmaking Coal**
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

**Job Description**:

- Reporting to the Financial Reporting & Governance Manager, as the Financial Compliance Specialist you will be responsible for delivering the global and local compliance requirement for internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). In addition you will provide governance over ethical business conduct.

This role will be rewarding, varied and will include:

- Embed compliance with internal controls over financial reporting through proactively identifying process improvements and delivering training to BCO and Site Finance on internal control standards, procedures and policies
- Support control owners and operators in RACM governance, attestation and remediation activities
- Support relationships with internal and external audit teams including supporting management responses and aligning with key internal stakeholder and third-party service providers
- Plan and deliver risk-based control reviews, in consultation with senior management and second line assurance
- Evaluate and respond to control testing results, working with relevant stakeholders to identify compensating and mitigating controls, and create remediation plans.
- Proactively identify the impacts of changes in business processes to financial compliance, working with both local and global stakeholders
- Support the SMC Ethics Committee and be the ethical business conduct lead for SMC
- Present governance information and findings to Executive Committee members
- Support implementation, testing, and monitoring of annual compliance program and risk register

**Qualifications**:

- You will be CA/CPA qualified with a strong commercial acumen developed via relevant post-qualification experience in a large corporate environment or chartered accounting firm. Previous exposure to mining operations or a multi-site business is valued.

Some of your skills will include:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Auditing / Finance / Risk
- Professional designation (CPA or CA) required
- Prior role within in a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Environment - i.e. within a SOX registrant; or as Audit or Advisory professional to SOX registrants
- Strong analytical and project management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs
- Ability to translate methodology into pragmatic and value enhancing outcomes
- Deliver presentations and materials, targeted at the appropriate level to engage senior management
- Previous people management experience will be highly regarded
