About You

As the Technical Officer for Laboratory Chemistry, you will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operational functions of laboratories and workspaces and providing support to teaching and research activities within STEM laboratories and workspaces; including but not limited to laboratories within the Applied Chemistry and Environmental Science disciplines. The provision of technical support to undergraduate teaching and learning activities is a significant proportion of this role.

In this role, you will provide effective technical support to all users of the relevant workspaces. You will provide assistance in the development, maintenance and implementation of documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments and chemical and equipment registers, as well as ensure consumable levels are well maintained. You will work in partnership with a variety of stakeholders to understand and ensure activities planned in the space can be delivered to a high and efficient standard.

To be successful in this position, you will have as a minimum:
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience in teaching or research laboratories in the field of Chemistry.- Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining laboratory-based instruments/equipment relevant to Chemistry laboratories, including but not limited to pH meters, conductivity meters, and UV-Visible Spectrophotometers.- Proven track record of building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding, and embracing a client-focused framework.- Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other field or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area.
