**Position Information**:
Fairfield High School is a comprehensive high school supported by Resource Allocation Model Equity funding with an enrolment of approximately 1000 students, including 93% from a non-English speaking background. The school has a culture of high expectations through innovative teaching programs supported by an emphasis on professional learning.

The school also has a special education unit catering for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and a well-established Intensive English Centre which is located onsite as part of the school with a majority of the students coming from refugee, EAL/D and low socio-economic backgrounds.

The school has a balance of early career and experienced staff with a focus on the delivery of a broad curriculum catering for the needs of individual students. The Community, Achievement, Respect and Environment (CARE) code underpins the ethos of the school. Fairfield High School has a growing parent group with increasing parent engagement programs to support student learning and build knowledge and skills for the wider community.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria.

Demonstrated capacity to lead the HSIE faculty in program writing, differentiation and evaluation and the implementation of high-quality evidence-based assessment and reporting practices.

Demonstrated capacity to meet the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of students in HSIE who are high potential and gifted and from EAL/D and low SES backgrounds to build student engagement and support high expectations.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, cohesive and effective relationships across the diverse area of the HSIE Faculty.

Highly developed ability to work successfully and productively with the school's dynamic executive team to analyse data and to lead, implement and support whole school priorities and strategic directions.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
