ALTER currently has vacancies for a number of Field Service Technicians plus a workshop based technician to join the Victorian team. The position will service the Melbourne region, based from our Mt Waverley, VIC office. The position is field based and will require the successful applicant to work autonomously.

The position will include repairs and service to assistive technologies equipment in clients’ homes, hospitals and healthcare facilities. Equipment includes powered and manual mobility aids (wheelchairs, scooters, etc), electric beds, patient lifting equipment, alternating air mattress systems and patient transport and care equipment.

Responsibilities include the use of mobile computer job-based systems for tracking, updating and maintaining information on a large number of items of equipment, developing and managing client relationships, providing an effective breakdown service and providing a scheduled routine maintenance program to our hospital and community-based clients.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Basic practical skills in electronics and electromechanical repairs;
- A desire to understand and learn Assistive Living Technologies;
- The ability to work across a scope of electrical and mechanical devices;
- An understanding of low voltage electrics and competent with a multi-meter (desirable);
- Good problem solving skills;
- A good level of physical fitness and the ability to lift and move equipment (with appropriate lifting aids);
- The ability to work in the field unsupervised;
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and other asset management database literacy;
- Excellent communication skills to enable engagement with staff and patients to retrieve the relevant information to ensure a successful repair outcome;
- An organised and pro-active approach to work;
- Good time management skills;
- A friendly, sympathetic, tolerant and caring approach.
