**Responsibilities**:

- Lead the Quantitative Modelling stream within the analytics team, mentoring and training junior members of the team
- Engage with the Spot Trading, Forward Trading, Portfolio and Commercial teams to Develop quantitative tools for Australian Gas and Electricity physical and contract markets
- Lead the development, maintenance and quality control for quantitative models including Load Forecasts, Asset Operation Optimisation, Contract, Option and Complex Products Valuations.
- Provide technical leadership in the quantitative modelling space including modelling techniques and ensuring coding quality standards (documentation, version control, testing) are followed
- Ensure that the analytical work is complete to a high standard and on time, while regularly communicating the status of the project to Head of Analytics
- provide thought leadership and creativity in developing innovative solutions to new problems, together with the Head of Analytics and Principal Analyst Market Analysis

**About You**:
To be successful in this role, you will bring forward your experience of the energy industry, as well as analytical thinking, problem solving and statistical skills. You will also have:

- 6+ years relevant experience to the role
- Strong mathematical modelling skills
- Technical / programming skills: SQL, Microsoft Excel, coding in R and Python
- Relevant tertiary degree e.g., Mathematics, Physics
- Project Leadership and mentoring of junior team members
- Broad range of experience with different modelling approaches (Optimisation, Time series, Option valuation, etc..)
