**About the Role**:
**What you'll achieve**:

- The Perfusionist will be required to provide extra corporeal services to the Cardiac Surgery Unit, as per the Departmental Purpose statement
- Take full responsibility for all aspects of patient care as they relate to extra corporeal services
- Assist in the procurement and preservation of donor organs, and liaise closely, under the auspices of the Cardiac Surgery Unit, with collaboration with RCH staff from other disciplines
- Ensure integrity of all perfusion unit equipment
- Participate in lectures and continuing education programs, either as a participant, or primary provider as requested
- Be active in research, and maintain a high profile in the cardiac surgery and perfusion community by attendance at meetings, and presenting and publishing papers, both nationally and internationally

**Your skills and experience**:

- Essential:_
- The applicant should be an Australia and New Zealand Certified Clinical Perfusionist or other certification recognised as equivalent by the Australia and New Zealand Board of Perfusion.
- The applicant must have experience in providing Extracorporeal services in a hospital environment.
- Extra Corporeal Life Support (ECLS)
- Desirable: _
- Paediatric Perfusion
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)

**The Department**:
The Cardiac Surgery Department at the RCH is the sole provider of care for paediatric cardiac surgery for Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Northern Territory. The Cardiac Surgery Department performs over 530 open heart surgeries a year. It holds the Nationally Funded Centre for paediatric cardiac transplantation and this includes a large program for LVAD and ECMO.

The Perfusion Unit is sited within the Cardiac Surgery Unit and exists to primarily provide extra corporeal services to the Cardiac Surgery Unit.

- Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure
