Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD) within Griffith Sciences, is dedicated to developing innovative new solutions for devastating conditions including cancer, infectious diseases and neurological disorders like Parkinson’s diseases. GRIDD’s Compounds Australia is a sophisticated compound management facility that supports therapeutic drug discovery research across Australian universities, research institutes and commercial partners and globally. Compounds Australia is based around a unique custom-designed suite of advanced robotics and software to securely store and curate small molecule compound libraries and to prepare assay-ready microplates for screening.

**Job Description**:
This role will be supervised by the Operations Manager and work closely with the Senior Operations Officer and Operations Technicians to ensure the completion of work requests and will work collaboratively with national stakeholders in a multi-disciplined research environment to facilitate research activities associated with Compounds Australia.

As the Technical Officer, you will provide operational support for the submission and reformat of sample libraries into Compounds Australia and the provision of fee-for-service assay microplates for our requesting member organisations. The appointee will be trained in high-end automation and liquid handling, enabling skills development for contributing across the entire laboratory-based workflow of Compounds Australia.

**What we can offer**
This is a fixed term (12 Month), full time position and is based at the GRIDD site, located at Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 5 range $74,016 - $83,033 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $86,598 - $97,148 per annum.

**Qualifications**:
To be successful in this role, you will hold a bachelor’s degree in science or technology; or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience. In addition to this you will have, but not limited to:

- A strong understanding of safety standards and best practices in regards to the operations, appearances and the policies of the Compounds Australia facility.
- Attention to detail with strong administrative skills to prepare associated data processing files and maintain stocktake within the Compound.
- Open to learning and follow instructions, that will allow you to process new deposits into Compounds Australia, including solid and liquid handling, sample storage, formatting, and database manipulation.
