headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Shellharbour and Kiama work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Shellharbour and Kiama. We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality physical and mental health services across NSW and the ACT.
About The Position
The Senior Practitioner, with support of the Service Manager and Clinical Lead, is responsible for supporting the delivery of a range of evidence-based interventions and youth friendly models that facilitate early help-seeking behaviour and seamless access to early intervention health and well-being services across the headspace service platforms; Mental Health; Drug and Alcohol and Vocational Assistance.
This role is split between our headspace Shellharbour and headspace Kiama hubs, with two days per week at each location.
This is a part-time opportunity (30 hours per week), fixed term until 30 June 2026.
We Are Looking For Someone With
- Minimum two years post graduate experience in mental health service delivery (full time equivalent) and;
- Clinical Psychologist or Registered Psychologist who have current full AHPRA registration, or;
- Occupational therapists who have current full APHRA registration, and who have completed additional mental health specific training and are eligible for mental health accreditation with OTA, or;
- Social Workers holding an approved Social Work Qualification (Bachelor/ Master of Social Work) and who have completed additional mental health specific training, and are eligible for mental health endorsement with AASW
- Counsellors with current clinical registration as a PACFA Mental Health Practitioner or current Level 3 or 4 membership with ACA, or;
- Division 1 Mental Health Nurses who have completed additional training or who have relevant experience within mental health, e.g. with post graduate qualifications in mental health nursing.
- Experience in assessment of mental health disorders, and provision of Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based focused psychological strategies.
- Experience working with young people and their families or carers in a family inclusive practice model.
- Demonstrated understanding of key issues in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems including ability to effectively engage with young people and their family, friends or carers.
