Operating since 1988 in the lower and upper north shore areas of Sydney, Easy Care Gardening (ECG) is a for-purpose, not-for-profit organisation, providing services under the Department of Health and Aged Care's 'Commonwealth Home and Support Program' (CHSP).
At times, older people are unable to manage their home environment. This can impact a person's sense of safety and quality of life, which can lead to increased loneliness and isolation, and decreased independence in living at home. ECG offers gardening services designed to help older people maintain their safety and autonomy. By promoting choice and collaboration in gardening programs, we foster shared learning and help to assist people to feel more connected to their community. This approach enhances their physical and mental well-being, taking control of their outdoor spaces and living fulfilled lives at home for longer.
As ECG navigates sector reform in Aged Care, the 'Garden Lead' role is central to ECG's strategy in piloting new programs and services.
