About the role:

As a Development Engagement Officer at Unitywater, you will play an important role in building trust within the development industry, serving as an advocate for both customers and Unitywater. Your focus will be on enhancing the customer experience through authentic engagement with the development community and internal teams, fostering a culture of balance, trust, and customer-centricity within the development community and the development services team.

Working with the Senior Development Engagement Advisor, you will lead by example, setting high standards for customer and industry engagement. Your responsibilities include supporting the development and delivery of strategies to exceed customer expectations, proactively addressing issues, and transitioning from reactive problem management to proactive industry engagement.

  • Strong understanding of customer experience and engagement methodology, with demonstrated experience in its application on complex issues and projects, ideally with experience in supporting the preparation and execution of communication and engagement strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with others to effectively manage and resolve complex issues and achieve outcomes
  • Well-developed organisational, planning and project management skills
  • Demonstrated research and problem-solving skills including the ability to synthesise and summarise complex issues, identify contentious and emergent issues and, where appropriate, develop recommendations and/or implement options for their resolution
  • Well-developed people and relationship skills, with the ability to participate as part of a team or autonomously, lead and support others, contribute to a positive work environment and project a professional image
  • Well-developed time management skills and organisational skills and ability to independently prioritise and coordinate a range of tasks to meet deadlines
  • Relevant industry qualifications such as International Association of Public Participation Certificate is preferable
