Base pay range

A$280,000.00/yr - A$310,000.00/yr

Partner & Co-Founder @ North Star Partners - Executive Technology Recruiter, Startup Advisor & Business Owner

North Star Partners is looking for an experienced and strategic technology leader to join an established financial services organisation as Head of Technology. This is a critical executive role responsible for the full breadth of IT operations, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and the overall technology strategy. You will lead an established and mature technology team with a mandate for continuous improvement.

Based in Sydney, this is a full time, in office position with no work from home options.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the execution of a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with business strategy
• Oversee daily IT operations, infrastructure, and systems to ensure stability, performance, and compliance
• Lead cybersecurity initiatives and ensure alignment with APRA, ASIC, and other regulatory requirements
• Manage IT vendor relationships, contracts, SLAs, and budget
• Provide clear, strategic technology insights and reporting to the Executive Leadership Team
• Maintain IT governance, including policies, audits, and compliance documentation
• Lead and mentor a small but capable internal team, while uplifting overall digital capability
• Deliver business critical projects including upgrades, migrations, and transformation programs
• Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, ideally within financial services
• Deep expertise across IT infrastructure, operations, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity
• Strong understanding of financial systems, trading platforms (e.g. IRESS), and clearing/settlement environments
• Experienced in vendor and stakeholder management, including budget oversight
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with a pragmatic and delivery focused mindset
• Demonstrated success in regulated and fast paced environments
