Content Marketing Director

12-Month Contract | Sydney | Hybrid

We're working with a fast-growing digital media and content agency that's home to a portfolio of well-known Australian publications and platforms. With a 20+ year history of delivering impactful journalism and branded content, their mission is to spark meaningful conversations and connect brands with engaged, purpose-driven audiences.

They've recently expanded their footprint in the small business and startup space and are now looking for a hands-on leader to drive their commercial content arm for the next 12 months (parental leave cover).

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the MD, this role is equal parts creative direction, client management, campaign leadership, and commercial strategy. You'll lead a high-performing internal and external creative team, producing content-led campaigns across digital video, editorial, podcasts, social media, live events, and more — with clients spanning global brands to local innovators.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading strategic responses to client briefs and developing new business opportunities alongside the commercial team
• Owning end-to-end content production across video, editorial, podcasts, events, and social from pitch through to post-campaign wrap
• Managing and mentoring creatives, producers, and delivery teams to execute work at a high standard
• Building strong client relationships, ensuring work is delivered on brief, on budget, and with impact
• Partnering with internal editorial and marketing teams to drive growth across owned platforms

What They're Looking For

• 5+ years in a content, production, or creative agency environment
• Deep experience across content production, especially video – you'll be comfortable directing shoots, writing scripts, and overseeing delivery
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to spot opportunities and lead new business conversations
• A strategic thinker who can balance big-picture vision with day-to-day execution
• Strong storytelling, communication, and leadership skills
• Familiarity with the startup, tech, or B2B space is a bonus
