This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that plays a critical role in helping keep Australia free from harmful pests and diseases by supporting the movement of goods through our borders.
About the Role
Working in a professional, office-based contact centre environment, Biosecurity Officers respond to a high volume of phone and email enquiries, process inspection bookings, and provide advice to clients and stakeholders on biosecurity requirements and regulations. This work is essential in supporting the import and export of goods into and out of Australia while maintaining biosecurity integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to enquiries from importers and internal stakeholders via telephone and email, providing clear and accurate guidance.
- Coordinate and process inspection bookings using internal systems.
- Manage operational workflows and assist in resourcing inspections.
- Identify and escalate potential biosecurity risks to the appropriate channels.
- Liaise with clients and partner agencies on technical and procedural matters.
- Support supervisors with monitoring daily service performance and team outputs.
- Promote and adhere to safety, ethical, and behavioural standards aligned with government service values.

- Contact Centre experience preferred, but not essential.
