Deliver high-level Social Work and clinical child development services for children and their families as part of a multidisciplinary Child Development Service (CDS) team across multiple sites of a designated Service Area. Apply clinical evidence to support service development/ improvement activities within the CDS. Provide clinical practice supervision to less experienced Social Workers and support discipline-specific and child development education and training activities.

About The Team

The Child Development Service teams provide a family-centred, specialist public health service for children who have complex developmental and behavioural concerns. The teams provide multidisciplinary clinical services and consultancy/advice to support a comprehensive understanding of the child's developmental profile and how this relates to their functioning and participation in everyday life.

About The Role

  • Delivering Social Work and specialist child development clinical services as evidenced by high-level knowledge, clinical skills and expertise in complex contemporary child development clinical practice standards with minimal direct clinical practice supervision.
  • Applying independent professional judgement and problem-solving skills to a complex caseload adapting routine clinical practice using valid and reliable evidence to inform service delivery across the continuum of care.
  • Working collaboratively and effectively within a multidisciplinary child development team to empower families to understand their child and optimise their health and wellbeing by supporting their participation and engagement in the activities of their everyday life.
  • Communicating appropriately and effectively with children and their families' using strengths based and family-centred principles of care to build family capacity to actively manage current and future health care needs
  • Demonstrating high-level oral and written communication skills to work effectively with children, parents/carers, multi-disciplinary team members, other health professionals and agencies (including demonstrated ability to produce a range of fit for purpose written reports, medical records, education and professional documents).
  • Actively participating in clinical practice supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure contemporary, evidence informed skills and knowledge.
  • Actively contributing to the CDS state-wide support program and service improvement to build upon evidenced based knowledge and skills in child development and support service provision across the continuum of care.
  • Participating in the provision of clinical practice supervision, education and mentoring to support the ongoing professional and clinical capability of less experienced staff and student health practitioners.
