KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will collaborate with a team of highly experienced engineers and project managers, engaging with our local, interstate, and global operations. Your expertise will be crucial in driving technical excellence, mentoring the next generation of engineers, and expanding our business horizons in the power sector. This position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  1. Leading technical aspects of modelling, analysis and design of Power Converter Systems (inverter-based generation)
  2. Providing expert technical advisory and engineering services for grid-connected and off-grid power generation systems.
  3. Delivering high-quality technical reports and documentation.
  4. Fostering client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.
  5. Collaborating in cross-functional teams to provide technical due diligence support for transactions.
  6. Working on projects focusing on:
    1. Steady state analysis, i.e. load flow and fault level studies
    2. Dynamic analysis, i.e. frequency and voltage stability studies
    3. Harmonic analysis including power quality and filter design studies
    4. Grid code compliance reviews for generators, energy storage systems and loads
    5. Wide area power systems studies
    6. Protection co-ordination studies
    7. RMS and EMT Modelling for power system studies
    8. Mathematical modelling and simulations of power plant controls
ABOUT YOU:
  1. Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with additional qualifications in power systems engineering highly regarded
  2. Minimum 5-10 years industry experience
  3. Experience working with distributed energy resources (especially wind, solar and BESS) in the National Electricity Grid
  4. Essential experience in developing models/modelling and reviewing outputs in PSS/E, PSCAD.
  5. Advantageous experience in DSA Tools, PowerFactory, Matlab, RTDS, Fortran &/or manipulating these packages using programming languages such as Python.
  6. Knowledge of Australian grid codes is desirable.
  7. Familiarity with Australian and international safety and electrical rules, regulations and standards
  8. Strong understanding of power system studies including generator performance standard studies, transient stability, fault analysis, load flow, protection design and an ability to assess power quality issues
  9. Strong communication and leadership skills
  10. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
  11. Experience in proposal development and strategic pursuits
  12. Analytical mindset with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
