Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) – Darwin CBD

Location: Darwin, NT (with flexible WFH by negotiation)

Contract: 6 months + 6-month extension

Born Digital Solutions (BD-S) is seeking an experienced Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead cybersecurity strategy and uplift for our large Northern Territory government-owned client operating across metropolitan, regional, and remote communities. This is a senior leadership role shaping cyber resilience and compliance in a high-stakes critical infrastructure environment.

The Role

As CISO, you will:

  • Own and deliver the organisation's cyber security strategy in alignment with federal regulatory requirements for critical infrastructure.
  • Lead risk and threat assessments across both IT and OT environments.
  • Drive convergence maturity between IT and OT security functions.
  • Mentor and right-size internal cyber teams while optimising vendor relationships.
  • Provide strategic reporting and executive briefings to senior leadership.
  • 10+ years in senior cyber leadership, ideally as a CISO within utilities, energy, transport, or other critical infrastructure.
  • CISSP or equivalent accreditation.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage external vendors, and improve cyber resilience.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant cybersecurity frameworks, compliance obligations, and risk management under Australian critical infrastructure legislation.
  • Successful delivery of OT cyber initiatives.
  • Detailed knowledge of the SOCI Act and risk management obligations.
  • Program and portfolio management skills.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, Cloud, AI platforms, and emerging tech.
  • Strong presentation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.

This is an On-Site role with some Remote Work, so you will need to be an Australian citizen, with the ability to work in Darwin CBD, pending an interview, offer and start date.
