Here at Simplot Global Food, we're seeking applicants for the position Maintenance Electrician (Casual) for maintenance days and coverage opportunities at our Ulverstone based frozen potato product manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Electrical Team Lead, the Maintenance Electrician will provide industrial electrical services during monthly scheduled maintenance days and day work coverage as required. Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history dating back to 1942, located on the banks of the Leven River, near the rich soils where our potatoes are grown. We process around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year, employing over 450 people. Site capabilities include fries (coated and uncoated), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns, plus 8 automated packing lines. Our customers include leading QSR chains, major and independent supermarkets, and the food service industry.

The Maintenance Electrician will perform planned, scheduled and breakdown electrical activities on a wide range of fixed plant and equipment in alignment with the site's Maintenance & Production schedules to support plant reliability, safety improvements, and site continuous improvement (CI) activities. Typical hours: Monthly maintenance day 07:00–17:30, day shift coverage 07:00–15:00. Working closely with the wider Maintenance and Production teams, this hands-on role provides electrical expertise to Ulverstone operations by:

• Identifying faults and performing breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops
• Inspecting, testing and maintaining machinery and equipment in production areas and plant buildings
• Working with PLC, SCADA (CITECT) for diagnostics, fault finding, programming and connections
• Performing general plant and building maintenance
• Following all Safety, Health & Wellbeing and Environmental policies and procedures
• Using MEX CMMS to update work orders, review asset history and identify maintenance trends or opportunities
• Contributing to site CI activities

• Cert III Electrotechnology + Tasmanian Electrical Licence (mandatory)
• Instrumentation & Controls qualifications advantageous but not essential
• Experience with fixed plant electrical works
• Diagnostic, fault finding and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret schematics
• Working knowledge of safety and quality systems and procedures
• Intermediate user of Windows-based systems and CMMS (MEX)
• Strong judgement, decision-making and communication skills
• Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical including urine-based drug and alcohol screening
