Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting enforcement, surveillance, inspections, and investigations related to fisheries and habitat protection under state and commonwealth laws.
  • Providing compliance and extension services to fishers, small craft users, and the community to promote understanding of fisheries, habitat, and boating safety.
  • Maintaining knowledge of relevant fisheries and maritime safety legislation.
  • Engaging effectively with clients, the public, and stakeholders, providing informed advice and escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Participating in community education activities at public events.
  • Managing expenditure activities in accordance with financial delegations.
  • Collaborating with a team of professionals.
  • Performing routine maintenance of departmental equipment.
  • Undertaking other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Primary location is Karumba, with consideration given for working from Cairns and servicing Karumba via fly-in fly-out.
