The Role
The Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) plays a key role in supporting the educational and cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Working alongside teachers, the AIEO helps deliver inclusive learning programs, offers pastoral care and mentoring—particularly for students at risk—and encourages active participation and achievement. The role also involves guiding staff on culturally responsive practices, supporting the implementation of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework, and strengthening partnerships between the school, families, community, and external agencies.

To work with us, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.

- A CV of up to three (3) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position
- A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF
- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, community members and professional staff on the provision and development of educational programs.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact on a range of levels in a variety of settings and with different audiences, including community members, teaching and other professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a school-level team and to provide multi-cultural direction in the development of the educational program, development of language resources, and evaluation of education and behaviour management programs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively assist teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
