Intermediate Accountant - Clear Pathway to Senior Role

Location: Malvern, VIC
Work Type: Full Time (Open to Part Time) | In-Office Only

We are a well-established accounting and advisory practice in Malvern, specialising in cloud-based solutions and business advisory services. With a strong focus on Xero and modern technology, we pride ourselves on delivering practical, client-focused outcomes in a collaborative, down-to-earth environment.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone ready to take the next step in their career — someone who values high standards, teamwork, and the chance to make a meaningful impact. We are experiencing rapid growth, particularly, with our client base of medical professionals.

What You'll Be Doing

Managing a portfolio of SME and high-net-worth clients across diverse industries, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and analysing financial statements and annual reports, income tax returns, BAS, and IAS for individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies and SMSF's.
  • Ensuring compliance with payroll, STP, superannuation, WorkCover, and payroll tax obligations
  • Assisting with tax planning, structuring, and interim financial statements
  • Advising on Div 7A, CGT, FBT, and SMSF matters
  • Preparing workpapers and journals
  • Building strong client relationships and liaising directly with business owners
  • Collaborating with the team to deliver on deadlines and exceed client expectations
  • Taking ownership of your own client list while contributing to training and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Reviewing and maintaining client files in Xero
What We're Looking For
  • 4+ years' experience in public practice accounting (Australian experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in Xero, Xero Tax, and MYOB
  • Experience with Xero Practice Manager and CLASS Super (advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple client files
  • A proactive, positive approach with eagerness to learn and grow
  • CPA or CA qualification (or currently completing) highly regarded
