Assistant VCE Biology Tutor

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant VCE Biology Tutors to join our team. You will enhance student learning through direct engagement in Contour classes, personalised 1-on-1 consultations, and ongoing academic support. You will work collaboratively with tutors to ensure students receive the highest quality education and support. This role also offers a development pathway for those aspiring to become tutors. We are offering this role across all our campuses - Melbourne CBD, Glen Waverley, Point Cook, Narre Warren and Box Hill.

Who are we

We empower students and their studies by providing an ecosystem of highly effective tutoring, resources and support. We run weekly small-group tutoring sessions, presented by young and experienced tutors that teach in a simple, intuitive and engaging way. We also supplement these sessions with weekly workshops, complimentary 1-on-1 support and a learning portal with a comprehensive suite of resources and practice material to help students master their subjects.

As a VCE Assistant Tutor at Contour, rather than tutoring one student at a time, you can now motivate groups of students with your knowledge and experience without the hassle of more admin work and finding students.

You've probably spent hundreds of unpaid hours making tutoring resources for your students. We know it can be an extremely time-consuming process, and arguably one of the more boring and tedious parts of being a tutor. But that's where we come inWe've spent thousands of hours creating resources and detailed notes for VCE subjects. All we need now is you—the tutor

All you have to do is prepare for your tutoring session by reading over the class workbooks beforehand, and provide an excellent tutoring experience to your students :)

Competitive Pay and Compensation

We pride ourselves on compensating and rewarding our tutors for their hard work. The starting rate ranges from $60+ per 2-hour class (exc. Super) for Assistant Tutors. There may also be opportunities for you to progress into a tutor role, which has a salary ranging from $90-200 per 2 hour class, depending on how many students you have.

Minimal Admin Work

There is almost no requirement for admin work. All you have to do is take simple attendance, manage student emails, and address student questions promptly outside of class via social media/text/email. Our support teams organise class days and times, following up on missed attendance, managing payments and enrolments, so you can just focus on the student and tutoring. However, If you'd like to create additional resources for us or do more non-tutoring work, we can also organise tailored payment plans to suit your needs :)

Working in a collaborative environment and an energetic team can be a fantastic opportunity to hone your skills and learn so much along the way When you work with us, you'll also have the chance to learn from tutors who have spent thousands of hours tutoring and have garnered years of experience, perfecting their craft.

You'll be trained upon joining and we'll provide you with personal feedback as you settle in. You'll also be engaged with the rest of the team through routine catch-ups and peer-review sessions, and over time you'll receive further perks, pay rises, classes and work opportunities. Key ResponsibilitiesAs an Assistant Tutor, you will be responsible for:

Class Support (Secondary Tutoring)

• Support the academic development of students during lessons.
• Assist with classroom operations
• Clarify concepts, answer questions, and reinforce subject knowledge.
• Mentor students with study strategies and academic guidance.

Student Support Outside the Class

• 1-on-1 Consultations: Offer personalised academic support through scheduled online sessions.
• Text-Based Support: Respond to student queries via our messaging platform

Content & Quality Assurance

• Assist in proofreading and reviewing educational materials.
• Identify and report errors or inconsistencies to maintain high content quality.

• VCE Physics 1/2 & 3/4

99+ ATAR
45+ Raw Study Score in Methods and Specialist Maths
First Year Uni Subject Specific Knowledge or Above
Tutoring Experience in Methods and Specialist Maths
Academic Awards in Methods and Specialist Maths

NOTE:These are not hard-fast academic requirements; however, they are favourable to your application.

Personal Requirements

Full Academic Year Commitment (e.g. no overseas exchange trips for 8 weeks)
Sign an NDA (e.g. can't distribute our resources/company info to others)
Agree to a non-compete clause ( e.g. you can't tutor student groups for others, exceptions apply, check with us)
Ability to Commit to Weekly Classes (e.g. can't constantly reschedule or miss classes)
Travel to our Locations (e.g. Glen Waverley, CBD, Box Hill, Narre Warren or Point Cook)
Genuine Desire to Motivate Students (e.g. your primary goal is to help students achieve their potential, like us)
Past VCE Graduate (we still accept applications from non-VCE graduates in exceptional circumstances)
