This role involves troubleshooting technical issues and acting as the subject matter expert on your designated shift for electrical, automation and specialist analytics areas of the plant. Reporting into the Production Manager and working a 12-hour rotating shift (7am–7pm & 7pm–7am), the key responsibilities of the Can Maker/Shift Electrician include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Maintain site equipment and machinery by ensuring safety, quality and manufacturing standards.
  • Operate high-speed machinery.
  • Dismantle, assess, repair and reassemble machines, equipment and components.
  • Respond to machine breakdowns and take corrective action promptly.
  • Carry out modifications to machines and equipment under instructions from the Engineering Manager and Electrical Supervisor.
  • Assist in training and knowledge transfer to new starters and existing team members.
  • Carry out root cause analysis as required.
  • Suggest areas for improvement and participate in improvement opportunities.

About You

  • Electrical Trade Certificate (Advanced Certificate welcomed).
  • Experience in manufacturing, high-speed, 24/7 production environments.
  • Maintenance experience (preventative maintenance plans, corrective maintenance systems).
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems, motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors, air systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, and environment.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application.
