Overview

Disability Support Worker (Residential Care Officer) – casual role with Queensland Government. Join to apply for the Disability Support Worker (Residential Care Officer) role. You are a compassionate, flexible team player who can also work autonomously to support people with an intellectual disability to live as independently as possible.

Residential Care Officers enrich clients' lives by ensuring they have opportunities and support tailored to their individual needs, to explore and participate in all aspects of their life. Services include accommodation support and short-term centre-based respite. Our aim is to help participants maintain emotional, social, financial, and physical well-being and live their best lives.

Responsibilities (Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To)
  • Performing daily household tasks with participants (menu planning, cooking and serving meals, cleaning, shopping, laundry, bed making, and light gardening)
  • Assisting participants to maintain relationships with family, friends, and advocates
  • Helping participants develop and maintain personal independence in their home (personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, showering, and mealtimes)
  • Assisting participants with personal and health care, including medication support (correct dosages as prescribed), seizure response, and health needs
