Overview

As a Greenkeeper Apprentice at the Links Shell Cove, you will support the Course Maintenance Team and gain practical skills in greenkeeping activities while contributing to the delivery of the objectives for the Links Golf Course.

Program and Eligibility

You will complete a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management Course at YallahTAFE to gain and develop practical knowledge and skills associated with the presentation of our city. This opportunity is open to school leavers, mature age applicants, second year apprentices and/or those who have already commenced their Certificate III in Sports Turf Management. Please note: this opportunity is dependent upon external funding confirmation. Successful applicants will commence in January 2026 based on funding being confirmed.

About CAT Program

Our Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) program aims to grow Council's skilled workforce by creating job opportunities and a talent pipeline for specialised roles and to develop future leaders by providing employment opportunities and professional development experiences that support and complement a related course of external tertiary study. Council's cadets, apprentices or trainees receive ongoing training, guidance and support from workplace mentors while completing a nationally recognised qualification. Position Details

Role: Greenkeeper Apprentice

Employer: The Links Shell Cove, Illawarra region, NSW

Contract: Temporary Full time up to 4 years (or for the duration of the apprenticeship) | 38 hours per week

What you will learn and do
  • Support the Course Maintenance Team and develop practical skills in greenkeeping activities
  • Assist in delivering objectives for the Links Golf Course
  • Complete on-the-job and off-the-job training as part of the apprenticeship

Requirements
  • You will need to complete a Pre-placement Medical examination
