What You'll Be Doing

The Mental Health Acute Access Service (Access) facilitates timely access to specialised mental health support for people who present with acute mental health issues in the community or within a hospital setting. Access provides recovery‑oriented, trauma‑informed support with timely and equitable access to mental health, drug and alcohol services via the NSW Mental Health Triage lines. Access clinicians also complete mental health assessments and provide virtual brief intervention mental health support to people in the community.

Selection Criteria
  • Tertiary qualifications and current registration with AHPRA for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
  • At least 1 year's professional experience post‑qualification, preferably in a mental health setting, or demonstrated experience in the provision of contemporary clinical mental health practice including conducting assessments and providing evidence‑based interventions for people experiencing mental illness, distress, acute psychological distress, or alcohol and other drug issues.
  • Understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007 and current national and state mental health initiatives and strategic directions.
  • Understanding of mental health rehabilitation and recovery concepts, with a collaborative, strengths‑based approach to care.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills to engage with consumers, families, carers and stakeholders, and high computer literacy.
  • Current unrestricted driver's licence and ability to drive/travel as required, including long distances and overnight stays.
