Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Full time

This position will be primarily responsible for the governance of funds to waterway programs and projects using appropriate levels of probity in line with departmental business rules. This ranges from operational tasks (related to creating funding agreements, and monitoring and transferring funds) to strategic initiatives (including business planning, analyses of agency performance, evaluation and improvement of systems), and reporting on investment outputs and outcomes for multiple audiences and purposes.

Day-to-day Activities For This Position Include:

  • Delivering a streamlined approach for the branch to meet corporate business planning and reporting processes, including budget management, development and evaluation of business plans, and developing and implementing program-specific audits and evaluations and coordinating responses to recommendations.
  • Providing end-to-end coordination of investment framework processes, including program development and costing, proposal assessment and approval, issue and variation management, reporting and evaluation.
  • Preparing, analysing and reviewing a variety of investment and program reports and data (including spatial data), and providing advice and briefings to inform decision-making by relevant DEECA Executives.
  • Working autonomously and efficiently on a variety of projects that assist waterway outcomes for Victoria, working across stages of project planning, engagement, implementation, contract management, reporting and budget management.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications:
  • Essential - a degree qualification or higher, preferably in business, commerce, natural resource management, science or a relevant equivalent.
  • Highly desirable - experience in Microsoft Excel; budget forecasting, planning and management, and/or investment planning and reporting.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne/flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
