A leading Community Legal Centre serving women in Central Australia and the Barkly Region, with offices in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. About the OpportunityWe are looking for a full-time Lawyer and Education Projects Officer, based in Alice Springs, NT.
This role offers a unique blend of legal practice and community education, supporting our outreach efforts while empowering frontline workers to respond to disclosures of domestic, family, and sexual violence.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing legal advice and representation across our areas of practice
- Delivering community legal education sessions and developing training resources
- Representing clients in court and assisting with duty lawyer services
- Conducting outreach and providing legal services in remote communities
- Developing education and training for partner organisations, aligned with the NT DFSV Risk Assessment and Management Framework
- Auditing partner services' risk assessment and referral processes and implementing improvements
- Building networks and representing us at meetings and stakeholder events
- Contributing to policy and law reform activities, including writing and editing publications
- Maintaining appropriate records and using CLASS data systems
- Participating in professional development and training in collaboration with the Education and Policy Manager
To qualify, you will need to be eligible to hold a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory and have at least one year of post-admission experience in legal practice.
The following will be highly regarded:
- Experience delivering legal education and training
- Knowledge of domestic, family, and sexual violence dynamics
- Experience designing adult education and professional development resources
- Familiarity with DFSV frameworks and eLearning tools
- Strong stakeholder engagement and public speaking skills
- Experience working with CALD and First Nations communities
You'll also bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work independently. A commitment to self-care and resilience in trauma-informed practice is key.
