Overview

Manager Database Services role at NAB. In the role of Global Database DevOps Leader, you will join the NAB Engineering Foundations to deliver the following business outcomes for 5000 databases.

  • Automate the infrastructure for provisioning of databases through pipelines in a safe, secure and self-service manner.
  • Automate the database maintenance activities through pipelines in a safe, secure and self-service manner.
  • Leverage commercial tooling e.g. flyway and provide a framework with observability and safety/security to apply the application changes. Build in design governance for schema changes. Move towards state store as a service in most cases and provide flexibility where there is need.
  • Automate (leveraging observability and AI) the insights into what queries are top contributors to the customer experience.

Foundation
  • Strategic centralisation of NAB's database estate towards a modern multi-cloud based DBMS platform driving faster, better, cost effective business outcomes
  • Cultivate a team culture of innovation with customer experience at its core
  • Confident in Executive forums and in exercising business acumen

What you'll need
  • Hands on knowledge of databases such as Postgres, Oracle, etc. from infrastructure, admin and application perspective on AWS, GCP and Azure.
  • Hands on knowledge of DevOps such as CI/CD/Infrastructure as Code – Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • Hands on knowledge of programming languages such as Java/TypeScript/Python and scripting tools such as shell scripts.
  • Experience managing a large team of database experts and people leaders as well as managing across geographies.
