About Us:The Emergency Department at Northern Health is a dynamic, supportive workplace accredited for two years of ACEM advanced training, employing diverse staff including doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.
The Role:As an Emergency Registrar, you will manage a variety of cases, including complex medical, surgical, trauma, and O+G cases. Opportunities include managing critically unwell patients, performing procedures such as intubation, arterial line, and central line insertions under supervision, and managing ED and SSU flow. This role offers leadership development towards becoming a FACEM.
Training and Education:We offer a comprehensive Registrar Education Program with protected paid teaching time, high exam pass rates, and courses taught by current ACEM examiners. Our TS4 accredited site encourages participation in leadership, teaching, and quality activities, with opportunities for quality improvement projects and external rotations in ICU, RMH ED, O+G, plastic surgery, orthopaedics, and paediatric ED.
Additional Opportunities:Our simulation and safety team provides weekly simulations with debriefs, fostering leadership and management skills. We also offer ultrasound training and credentialing opportunities, supportive leadership structures, and a culture of teamwork. Part-time positions are available to accommodate exam revision and family commitments.
