Director of Nursing - Children, Young People & Families

As the Director of Nursing – Children, Young People & Families (DON CYPF), you will lead the strategic direction of nursing for paediatric health services across HNEKids. Based at John Hunter Children's Hospital, this is a whole-hospital leadership role focused on delivering family-centred, highest-quality care for neonates through adolescence, with opportunities to work in partnership with community health services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic executive leadership for nursing across the CYPF portfolio, partnering with nurse unit managers, service managers and Clinical Nurse Consultants.
  • Drive initiatives to overcome discharge barriers, lead educational programs, develop new graduate nurses, and participate in clinical rounds with staff.
  • Promote a culture of family-centred care and continuous quality improvement in children's care, safety and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with community health nurses to strengthen services and support outreach and travel as required.
  • Support a collaborative leadership team and manage change in a dynamic hospital environment.

Requirements
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Authority to Practice with AHPRA
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and significant management/leadership experience in paediatrics or a related field

This role is subject to NSW Health policies, including occupational assessment and vaccination requirements for Category A positions. All new employees must comply with policy requirements.
