This role sits within the Revenue NSW Division in the Business Taxes Registered and Unregistered Payroll Tax teams.

About the team
Our focus is on encouraging lodgement of due taxes, and the detection of tax underpayments and non-compliance through the provisions of education and the conduct of audits and investigations. We use our expertise to research develop and implement programs and provide support to make it easier for our customers to comply with their tax obligations.

The revenue collected by Business Taxes contributes to more than 50% of Revenue NSW's overall tax revenue.

Your day-to-day

  • An exciting and rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic and well-organised person to join our Business Taxes team within Revenue NSW.
  • You will undertake routine desk and field audits/investigations and a range of activities including interacting and negotiating with customers to ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Your analytical skills accuracy attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines will ensure your success in this role.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting or related discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a compliance officer role or within a similar setting
  • Solid problem-solving abilities sound negotiation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of customers including their professional representatives
  • Ability to interpret financial records to identify relevant information
  • Analyse and evaluate information gathered to ensure compliance with the legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience writing clear correspondence and accurate reports
  • The ability to interpret and apply legislation

Salary Grade 34 with the base salary for this role starting at $82 193 plus superannuation.
