Principal Planner

Lead a dynamic team of experienced town planners and drive growth in a leading planning consultancy. Oversee and manage planning activities, client engagement, business development, and team leadership within the Planning Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategically lead and manage planning operations to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality output, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth.
  2. BUILD AND MAINTAIN STRONG RELATIONSHIPS with clients, consultants, and local councils through effective communication and negotiation.
  3. Provide expert strategic planning advice and technical support on complex development projects, staying up-to-date with industry regulations and standards.
  4. Develop and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and training to ensure their ongoing success and career advancement within the company.
  5. Drive business development initiatives to grow the Planning Business Unit, aligning with the company's strategic objectives and identifying opportunities for expansion and innovation.
  6. Oversee financial performance, ensuring project budgets are met and revenue targets are achieved through effective financial management and planning.
  7. Maintain and improve quality assurance processes to ensure work meets industry standards and regulations, continuously evaluating and refining processes to achieve excellence.

Required Skills & Experience:
  1. 10+ YEARS' EXPERIENCE IN TOWN PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT, with a focus on development applications, master planning, and strategic land use planning, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  2. Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, with eligibility for membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), demonstrating expertise and commitment to the profession.
  3. Extensive experience in managing planning teams, with a deep understanding of Queensland planning legislation and local planning schemes, ensuring compliance and driving positive outcomes.
