Procurement Specialist - FMCG (Food Manufacturing)

ConnectAPAC are delighted to partner with a long standing client of ours in the FMCG Manufacturing space as we recruit an experienced Procurement Specialist to join the business, reporting to the Head of Procurement.

This is a rapidly growing business looking to extend their position as the industry leader in a category that is experiencing explosive growth

The role

The Procurement Specialist ensures the seamless flow of materials and supplies for production by managing purchasing activities, supplier relationships, and international cargo.

Responsibilities include developing purchasing processes, collaborating with the planning team, ensuring quality assurance, managing stock control, coordinating onshore and offshore purchasing, and overseeing transport logistics. This role will predominately be responsibility for the procurement of Raw Materials. (Proteins, grains etc)

Key responsibilities

• Report, trend, and document all production quality-related issues and outcomes.
• Liaise with the Research & Development team, quality, and supply chain for any direct or raw material variances.
• Communicate daily with suppliers regarding demand and delivery.
• Adjust orders based on variations between forecasted and actual volumes.
• Place additional orders based on replenishment.
• Oversee transport management for inbound logistics.
• Book 3PL transports for internal transfers.
• Manage stock on hand for co-manufacturer primary and secondary packaging.
• Manage transfer orders for packaging.
• Develop and enhance purchasing processes and efficiencies as part of the Supply team.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships to support strategic sourcing.
• Collaborate with the planning team on production planning.
• Ensure quality assurance in line with food safety guidelines.
• Purchase direct and raw materials.
• Raise purchase orders based on lead time and material requirements.
• Communicate daily with suppliers regarding demand and delivery.
• Adjust orders based on variations between forecasted and actual volumes.
• Manage stock control variances.
• Conduct forward planning with international suppliers.
• Oversee transport management for inbound logistics.
• Communicate with co-manufacturers for production (PO and SOH levels).
• Order supplies for QA trials order onshore packaging.
• Manage transfer orders for packaging.

Key experience required

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing.
• Experience with procurement of proteins and grains HIGHLY DESIRABLE.
• Experience in food processing, with strong production knowledge.
• Proficiency in fast-paced purchasing environments.
• Advanced experience with Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.
• Familiarity with food and beverage products.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Genuine desire to grow and develop a career within the team.
• Enthusiastic and professional attitude.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with all departments.
