Overview

The Treasury and Financial Risk audit team within Group Audit and Assurance (GA&A) provides Line 3 assurance over the Bank's financial risks, focusing on frameworks, policies and models for Market Risk, Funding, Liquidity and Capital. The team integrates digital assurance, leveraging AI and data-driven insights to improve audit coverage and support the Board and stakeholders.

The Senior Audit Manager role reports to the Executive Manager and MoR, and supports independent assurance on risk management to key stakeholders including the Board Audit Committee and Group Executives. The position is suitable for someone with internal or external audit experience and risk management exposure in market risk and liquidity management.

Responsibilities
  • Operate as the Team Leader across audits, planning and delivering audits across Market, Liquidity and Funding risks in line with CBA Internal Audit Methodology.
  • Deliver assigned audit scope from Planning through Fieldwork and Reporting to audit closure, including administration of audit-stage gates in the workflow system.
  • Interview customers and conduct process walkthroughs to understand and assess the business risk and control environment.
  • Draft issues, agree factual accuracy and ratings with the Executive Manager and stakeholders, and prepare clear, actionable audit reports and issue logs.
  • Supervise, coach and support the development of more junior team members on audits.
  • Assist the Executive Manager in building a dynamic, risk-based Audit Plan to capture key and emerging risks.
  • Apply innovative thinking to problem-solving and actively contribute to processes that improve work methods and innovations.
  • Develop independent and objective relationships within GA&A, with the bank and externally to enable knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Risk modelling and/or validation experience covering traded and/or non-traded market risk models (e.g., APS 117, APS 116) and related risk areas such as Operational Risk or Credit Risk.
  • Internal audit experience at an authorised deposit-taking institution (ADI) or other financial services firm.
  • Tertiary qualification (Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Actuarial Studies, Finance, Business, Engineering or equivalent) and/or internationally recognised audit qualification.
  • Typically 8+ years of relevant experience in risk management (Line 1 or 2) or audit.
