Queensland's court services are a crucial part of civil society. As Queensland courts undergo transformation and reform, this position offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in these changes. Court Services Queensland (CSQ) employs over 1,300 skilled staff dedicated to supporting an independent judiciary and achieving community outcomes. Working closely with the judiciary will enhance your legal knowledge and provide a rewarding experience in delivering justice in Queensland.
Additionally, you will play a key role in helping court users understand processes, making a tangible difference in their experience and safety through support and empathy.
About The RoleAs a Court Services Officer, you will:
- Provide administrative support for the efficient operation of Court Services Queensland registries.
- Offer frontline services to court users daily, over the phone, in person, and/or in court, responding to their needs with trauma-aware and compassionate service, and resolving enquiries promptly. In-court duties may include:
- Preparing courtrooms for sittings.
- Making proclamations at court openings, adjourning, resuming, and closing.
- Administering oaths and affirmations.
- Maintaining security and control of jurors.
- Distributing exhibits and documents.
- Testing courtroom technology.
- Recognising and escalating risks related to Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) and anti-social behaviours.
- Adhering to policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness, supporting court operations, and managing complex court matters.
- Managing administrative and financial documents in compliance with legislation and policies.
- Supporting Magistrates and providing procedural assistance to court users.
- Building respectful relationships with judiciary, government agencies, litigants, and the public.
- Using and maintaining databases and digital tools accurately.
- Providing information about court services, rules, and procedures.
- Developing skills, staying updated, and seeking feedback.
- Contributing to process improvements.
- Fulfilling statutory duties as a Justice of the Peace, Clerk of the Court, or Registrar if required.
- Performing other duties as directed, maintaining professional standards.
