Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That's refreshing.

This role will see you developing front end engineering solutions and/or delivering detailed designs for substations and lines projects across the Projects portfolio.

You will work with internal stakeholders, and Design and Installation Service Providers to ensure projects are delivered in a cost-efficient way and to high standards of quality.

With a Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in our Southbank office, with occasional site visits also required and is part of the Engineering Solutions, Network Operations and Delivery team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Provide technical support into Customer and Company initiated projects across AusNet's Electricity distribution network.
  • Apply technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects.
  • Develop and/or review scopes, detailed design and installation scope of works.
  • Provide technical input into staging, constructability, operability and maintainability (COM) and safety in design reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new, and update existing engineering standards.
  • Contribute to the development of scopes and estimates for Distribution network projects ensuring cost effective and constructible business cases can be delivered, including:
    • Supporting the development of project schedules and risk registers.
    • Providing engineering input into commercial offers on customer offers.
  • Contribute to the timely delivery of design projects working closely with AusNet Project Manager and Design Service Providers, including:
    • Contributing to design tender processes and contract award decision making.
    • Monitoring design progress and design quality.
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert in the field of Project Engineering, as well as your Engineering discipline of experience.

You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Detailed technical knowledge and extensive experience in electricity networks engineering.
  • Simplify complex engineering analysis for non-engineers (eg summarising key decision-making during delivery of detailed design).
  • Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principles with extensive design and construction knowledge covering performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risks.
  • Extensive experience working in substation or lines engineering, project delivery and/or design role.
  • Primary substation design experience, having worked on Zone-Substation/Terminal station augmentation projects ranging from 22KV and above.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment that AusNet operates within.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support colleagues and team members to achieve common goals.
  • Proven capability in development of concepts and/or delivery of designs.
  • Proven ability to build and grow relationships and partnerships across divisions within AusNet as well as with external suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies.
