Thiess is currently seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Training Manager for a permanent role at our Lake Vermont Project in Dysart.
About the RoleAs our next Health, Safety & Training Manager based on-site working a 5/2 4/3 roster and reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving safety strategies and initiatives that cultivate and sustain a project culture of continuous improvement in safety. Leading the safety culture on site to ensure the safety of all persons on site. You will manage projects and budgets to deadlines and oversee a team of Health, Safety and Training professionals ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, in line with legislation.
Responsibilities- Influence and provide support to peers to achieve the vision of every safe every day.
- Lead and contribute to the implementation of project safety management plans with a hands-on leadership approach.
- Motivate people to own health and safety across all levels of the project and develop the effectiveness of the safety system.
- Oversee a team of HSE professionals ensuring high-quality delivery in compliance with legislation.
- Lead the safety culture on site to ensure the safety of all persons on site.
- Manage projects and budgets to deadlines.
- Previous experience in a senior role and relevant tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety and/or Environmental Management are essential; 3 - 5 years' experience in a similar role.
- Experience in managing both health and safety and environmental risks of a business is highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategy and influence change with top-level management.
- Minimum Diploma in OHS and/or Cert IV WH&S.
- Demonstrated experience in open pit mine operations.
- Sound knowledge of QLD OHS legislation and mine regulations.
- 9-day fortnight roster
