St John of God Health Care has exciting paid Post Graduate Student Midwife opportunities, in partnership with La Trobe University. As one of the largest health care providers, we focus on patient care and invest resources to support you. We will provide onsite training to help you build skills and confidence to become the midwife you aspire to be.

We are seeking applications from Registered Nurses interested in gaining a Registered Midwife qualification, to join the February 2026 Student Midwife Employed Program. This opportunity allows you to be paid while gaining clinical experience and academic requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Midwifery at La Trobe University.

You will be employed on a permanent part-time basis as a Registered Nurse/Student Midwife, with access to paid study leave. Successful candidates are guaranteed a place in the La Trobe University Graduate Diploma in Midwifery course. Enrollment and course fees are arranged directly with the university and are the participant's responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled or eligible to enroll in the February 2026 Graduate Diploma of Midwifery at La Trobe University
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • At least one year postgraduate experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Eligible to work in Australia
  • Commitment to remaining employed as a Registered Midwife at St John of God Health Care for 12 months after qualification
