Job Title: Finance Analyst
Location: Melbourne hybrid
Salary: VPS5 $113,000 - $125,000 per year + super
12 month full-time Fixed term role

About the Role:

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the successful candidate will provide advice and direction to stakeholders and management on a range of financial management activities. This includes analysis, interpretation, and recommendations on monthly operational performance, budget development, forecasting, and financial compliance. As a senior member of the Finance and Business Operations Team, you will also provide advice and support on best practices, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly reports, applying continuous improvement principles to reporting, processes, and systems.
  • Analyse monthly data to provide insights, identify issues, develop solutions, and offer expert advice to budget managers.
  • Coordinate and lead the delivery of the annual financial management compliance certification.
  • Provide ongoing budget and cash flow forecasts to ensure optimal allocation of resources.
  • Undertake monthly and ad-hoc reporting to the Department of Transport and Planning and other key stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate, negotiate, and build strong relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Qualification in Accounting, Business, Economics, or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in financial forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
  • VPS experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for partnering with stakeholders.
  • Experience in process writing and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
  • CPA/CA preferred.
  • Competency in the use of Excel and financial management software like Oracle Financials is desirable.
