The Department

Alfred Health's Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. This position is based at The Alfred Hospital. The department comprises 48 EFT and 65 staff, organized into eight clinical streams, providing a 7-day service. It offers evidence-based, patient-centred care, clinical expertise, and supports nutrition therapy for prevention and treatment of malnutrition, promoting recovery and wellbeing.

Position Summary

The Grade 3 Intensive Care Dietitian co-leads a small team of dietitians in the critical care stream and supports patient care in the ICU, which has 60 beds and provides trauma, burns, ECMO, and hyperbaric medicine services. The role requires clinical expertise in critical care nutrition, leadership skills, and experience in quality initiatives. The position collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and offers leadership development, research, and quality improvement opportunities.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualifications for full membership of Dietitians Australia (DA) and participation in the APD program
  • At least 7 years of clinical experience, including 3+ years in critical care nutrition
  • Higher qualification or progressing towards in Health Professional Education, Management, Public Health, or Research (highly desirable)
  • Current driver's license
  • Current Working with Children Check
