Associate Trader at Dimensional Fund Advisors

Overview

The Associate Trader is an entry level trader role with 1-3 years of trading experience, responsible for the timely and accurate execution of Equity and FX trades under the supervision of a Trader or Senior Trader. This position works to support the effective execution of Dimensional's investment strategy, and to continually refine trading systems and workflows across the globe.

• Execute and manage low touch Equity and FX orders across the Asia Pacific region
• Monitor and evaluate execution performance across multiple dimensions (i.e., country, venue, liquidity, broker, trader, execution strategy, portfolio, etc.) using in-house and third-party transaction cost analysis tools
• Gain an understanding of the execution algorithms, order and execution management systems utilized globally
• Gain an understanding of the regional market microstructures and regulations
• Manage real-time trade reporting, matching and settlement
• liaise with Portfolio Management, Research and operations in the region and across the globe

• Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or quantitative related field
• 2+ years of financial service experience with at least 1 year of equity trading experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to operate and prioritize in a fast-moving & demanding environment and deal with complex situations
• Completed applicable trading exams and currently holds required certifications/licensures for trading
• Basic knowledge of execution analytics, trading strategies and risk management techniques
• Advanced proficiency with Excel and large data sets
• Experience with various trading technology tools including OMS (Charles River a plus), EMS & Trade Cost Analysis tools

• Advanced coursework in computer science, statistics, econometrics, or mathematics
• Experience with SQL database and VBA programming with knowledge of other programming languages such as Python programming being a plus
• Experience working within the Trading department
