Canine & Feline Wellness Consultant - Retail

We are a fast growing independent pet store looking for a new senior member of our team to join us in a super important role - supporting our customers in our retail store to solve our customer's issues, provide helpful and practical advice on a vast range of holistic lifestyle factors and find the perfect products for their furry friends This role also has the potential to grow into a team leader position, so if you've been a Supervisor or Store Manager before AND you love dogs & cats, then this might be the perfect next role for you

We are not your average pet store We are a locally owned and operated, fully independent holistic style pet store specialising in natural, minimally processed, chemical and toxin free pet products for dogs & cats.

We absolutely love changing the lives of our furry friends (& their guardians) through the supply of species-appropriate nutrition, natural remedies, preventative health solutions and humane walking equipment.

We have a strong, friendly, happy team and this is an important new senior sales role (with future leadership potential) to support our ongoing business growth

About this role

You will be responsible for:

1. Delivering exceptional customer service by first receiving comprehensive training on our products and processes. Your role will involve understanding customer needs, matching them with our products, and educating customers on holistic lifestyle practices for dogs and cats.
2. Process purchases at the register - You'll follow our processes to carefully scan and pack customer purchases and process their transaction using our Point of Sale system, EFTPOS and Cash transactions.
3. Merchandise Displays - We'll train you on how to display our products so you can proactively rotate, create and improve our displays in store.
4. Pricing Products, Restocking, Auditing and Cycle Counting.
5. Proactively check, clean & tidy the retail store multiple times a day to maintain our high standard of presentation.
6. Identify and delegate tasks to junior team members.
7. Check off and process Supplier Deliveries – Following our process, receive, check off, process, display, store and receive stock into the system accurately.
8. Warehouse, heavy goods and freezer work - where needed you'll be packing stock away including physically lifting and moving heavy bags (up to 20kgs) into both dry & freezer storage.
9. Harness fitting & long lead walking demonstrations - you'll be trained in our products, reading canine body language and provide fittings and hands on demonstrations of our humane walking equipment to customers with their dogs to improve their walking experiences and comfort.

About YOU

We're looking for someone who wants to join our team for the long term and make a career with us

You'll need to be an outgoing, friendly and confident person with strong communication and relationship building experience with previous retail sales or customer service experience working predominantly on your feet being visible and available for customers in our store.

You'll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment helping lots of people, working closely with others in a small team.

In addition to the above, to excel in this role, you will also:

1. Be available to work at least 2 in 4 Saturdays (usually only 5-6 hrs).
2. 3+ years of retail sales experience in a fast paced, face to face environment where you've had to learn about a vast product range and have delivered exceptional customer service including giving advice to customers in an organised, efficient and customer centric way.
3. Bonus points if you've been a team leader or store manager in the past, there is an opportunity in the business to elevate into a team leader role in the future
4. Be confident using systems (including EFTPOS & Point of Sale), handling cash and doing a bit of quick maths in your brain.
5. Have a keen willingness to learn about our products and build up your knowledge of holistic natural health for dogs and cats - so you can give advice with confidence and become a go-to knowledge expert in our store.
6. Have a genuine interest in dogs & cats and their health and wellness and be keen to self-learn and develop your knowledge (paid learning opportunities available).
7. Learn and follow our processes and always have a can-do, problem-solving attitude.
8. Have the ability & willingness to lift heavy and bulky stock (up to 20kgs) and work in our walk-in freezer (PPE supplied).
