About the School

Mount Keira Demonstration School, classified as TP2 with a teaching principal, is a small yet proud community with 90 students across four stage-based mainstream classrooms. Located at the base of Mount Keira, the school is rich in culture and surrounded by rainforest, overlooking the ocean. The school emphasizes holistic education, community involvement, and student wellbeing, offering extracurricular activities in sports, science, arts, and leadership programs.

Position Overview

The successful applicant will:

  1. Provide high-quality educational leadership and management of a complex public school.
  2. Lead and manage inclusive, rigorous teaching and learning programs.
  3. Build positive relationships within the school community through excellent communication skills.
  4. Develop staff performance and improve teaching standards.
  5. Manage resources effectively to support educational outcomes.
  6. Implement the Department's Aboriginal education policies.
Selection Criteria

General:

  • Educational leadership skills for a complex school.
  • Ability to lead inclusive teaching and learning programs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Staff development and performance management capabilities.
  • Resource planning and management skills.
  • Experience with Aboriginal education policies.

Specific:

  • Approval to teach infants and/or primary students.
  • Proven instructional leadership with a focus on student engagement and staff professional learning.
  • Ability to foster a community of wellbeing and connectedness.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead the school's vision and strategic goals.
Conditions

Applicants must hold unconditional full approval to teach. If not, they must begin the application process concurrently with this application.

Principal classification is Teaching Principal Level TP2 for 2025, based on school complexity. Details of the classification structure are available at NSW Department of Education.
